Grilled Peaches and Cream

Grilled peaches and cream is simply a drool worthy summer dessert. We’re talking sweet ripe peaches, grilled and topped with a bourbon maple syrup and a big dollop of brown sugar whipped cream… I mean c’mon.

Grilled Peaches and Cream

It’s no secret summer fruit is the best fruit. It’s sweet, ripe and bursting with flavor, for only a few months out of the year. And fresh fruit really makes summer feel like summer, you know?

My personal favorite summer fruit is peaches — every year, I look forward to eating a super ripe peach right over the sink, juice dripping. But I also love grilling them and dressing them up a little into a full-blown dessert.

That’s where grilled peaches and cream comes in. It’s a no oven, no fuss recipe that’s perfect for a crowd or an easy night in. It’s forgiving — your peaches could be perfectly ripe or within a couple day’s margin either way. And it’s beautifully flavorful with a little bourbon maple syrup on top and a big dollop of brown sugar whipped cream to bring out the deep peach flavor.

Ingredients

  • For the whipped cream
  • 1 cup cold heavy cream

  • 2 1/2 TBS. dark brown sugar

  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

  • For the peaches
  • 3 peaches

  • 2 TBS. melted butter

  • 1 1/2 TBS. maple syrup

  • 1/4 tsp. bourbon (optional)

Directions

  • First, make the whipped cream. Add the cold heavy cream, brown sugar and vanilla extract to a large bowl, or a stand mixer with the whisk attachment. Whip the cream on medium high until it’s thick and soft. You’ll know it’s done when you lift the beater through the cream and get soft peaks that fold over onto themselves.

Place the whipped cream into the fridge while you grill the peaches.
  • Heat your grill or grill pan to medium. Cut the peaches in half and remove the pit.
  • First, test one peach to make sure you have the right grill temperature. Brush the flesh side of the peach with melted butter. Place the flesh side down on the grill and let sit for 3-4 minutes, until it gets grill marks. Brush the top of the peach with butter, flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

If the peach took forever to get char marks, up the temp a bit. If the peach cooked quickly and started smoking, decrease the temperature. Repeat the grilling process with the rest of the peaches, cooking as many as you can fit on your grill at a time.
  • Place the peaches on a serving dish flesh side up. Mix the maple syrup and bourbon in a small bowl and brush over the peaches. Serve with a hefty dollop of brown sugar whipped cream!
